In addition to human bone fragments, Coal fragments as well have been recovered  at the excavations carried out at the Matale General Hospital premises.

Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology Professor Raaj Somadeva said that the coal fragments had been sent to a foreign laboratory for carbonic inspection.

Bone fragments were first found on 26th last month during excavations carried out for setting up a biogas unit at the Matale General Hospital.

By now 43 personal bone fragments have been recovered from the location.
