It has been reported that five persons who had set sail from the Chilaw sea belt for fishing have gone missing.

Police media spokesman's office said that while these fishermen had set sail on 16th far into the sea for fishing, a complaint had been lodged to the effect that no information has been received about them even by now.

Statements have been obtained from about 10 persons with regard to the recovery of three scorched dead bodies from a house in Kaldemulla, Mt. Lavinia.

The three bodies were found on information received at the Police Emergency Call Unit last morning.

The United Nations World Food Programme has agreed to provide Sri Lanka food items worth 4,524 million rupees during the next two years.
WFP Resident Director Mads Lofvall handed over the related document to Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the ministry office.
The financial assistance from January 1^st, 2013 to December 2014 is expected to cover maternal and child nutrition, food for those whose work involves risk, lunch for school children, benefiting a total of 325 thousnd per year.

A mother and her two children were killed after a fire had erupted at a house in Kaldemulla, Ratmalana this morning.

It has been reported that the charred bodies of the three were found on the bed inside the house.

450 university students stranded at Hanthane rescued.

Military media spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya said that more than 450 students of two universities who had got stranded in a trip to cross the Hantana mountain range had been rescued.
The military media spokesperson said that while these students from the Vavuniya and Sri Jayewardenepura Universities had thus crossed the Hantaana Mountain last morning, they had got stranded due to the heavy fog, rain and cold weather.
Military media spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya said that the army had carried out the rescue operation with the cooperation of the Kandy, Peradeniya and Galaha police stations.
The Kandy hospital spokesperson said that currently 43 rescued students were receiving treatment as internal patients.
Reports say that while there are 42 girls among these students, they receive treatment at the hospital due to the extreme chill.
All the other rescued students have by now been released from the hospital after being admitted to the Kandy hospital and given emergency treatment.

The National Transport Commission says that jointly with the police a special programme will be implemented from today for arresting persons who obtain ransom from buses.

Four persons were killed and 10 others wounded in vehicle accident that had taken place at the Waliwita junction on the Colombo - Kaduwela road  last night.

Examinations Commissioner makes complaint to CID

The Examination Commissioner General has lodged a complaint with the CID with regard to an incident where a model paper had been provided for the Science question paper number 01 which was held yesterday.

The Ministry of Education previously decided to prohibit the issuing of model papers within one week from an examination to curb examination fraud.

However, a group of parents in Colombo had complained to the Examinations department that a teacher had provided a model paper for the science exam upon which the Examinations Commissioner General has requested the CID to conduct an investigation.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Lanka Teachers Association stated that investigations should be carried out in to the incidents and the truth should be conveyed to the students.

අගවිනිසුරුවරියට එරෙහි දෝෂාභියෝගය විභාග කළ පාර්ලිමේන්තු තේරීම් කාරක සභාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් තම මතය කඩිනමින් අභියාචනාධිකරණය වෙත දැනුම් දෙන බව ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය අද (14) ප‍්‍රකාශ කළා. මෙම තේරීම් කාරක සභාවට අධිකරණ බලයක් නොමැති බව පවසමින් ඉදිරිපත් වූ පෙත්සම් 7ක් අද (14) දිනයේත් සලකා බැලූණේ නිමල් ගාමිණී අමරතුංගගේ ප‍්‍රධානත්වයෙන් යුත් ති‍්‍රපුද්ගල ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණ විනිසුරු මඩුල්ලක් ඉදිරියේදියි. පාර්ලිමේන්තු තේරීම් කාරක සභාවේ කි‍්‍රයාපටිපාටියට එරෙහිව ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇති පෙත්සම්වලට මැදිහත්වීමට ඉඩ දෙන්නැයි ඉල්ලමින් ඉදිරිපත් වූ පෙත්සම් 7ක් විභාගට ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය ඊයේ (13) අවසර ලබා දුන්නේ නැහැ.
එහෙත් එම පෙත්සම්වලට අදාළ  නීතිඥවරුන්ට අද (14) දිනයේ දී කරුණු දක්වන ලෙස ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය ඊයේ (13) ප‍්‍රකාශ කළා. ඒ අනුව එම පෙත්සම් වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටි නීතිඥයින් අද (14) දිනයේ කරුණු දක්වා තිබෙනවා.  වගඋත්තරකරුවෙකු ලෙස නම් කර සිටි නීතිපතිවරයා ද අද (14) දිනයේ සිය කරුණු දැක්විම් අවසන් කළා.

ඒ පිළිබද වැඩිදුරටත් කරුණු දැක්වූ දෝෂාභියෝග පාර්ලිමේන්තු තේරීම් කාරක සභාවේ කි‍්‍රයාපටිපාටියට එරෙහිව ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇති පෙත්සම් වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටි නීතිඥ කි‍්‍රෂ්මාල් වර්ණසූරිය.
